OK so I used some brass wire I had already, was for a chain mail project that is on hold for the moment, and made a guide for the yarn to pass through.

The idea is to keep the yarn from tangling with the yarn below it as I knit or crochet.

Being Creative

So got an idea in my head and decided I had to do it. So I started sketching out my blue prints and taking measurements. Writing up a purchasing list for the local hardware store and planing the trip.

So I picked up 15 feet of 1/2 inch PVC piping, two T connectors, 4 elbow connectors, 3.5 feet of clear plastic tubing. 3 threader bars, 2 packages of 4 wing nuts and 2 end caps.

Got it all home and inventoried it once again and then set up to build. Made the cuts I needed to make and then started to do assembly.

Got half way through everything and realised my drill was busted so I could not use that and I had already shipped KO his birthday present (dremel). So after a bit of thinking I went with the trusty hammer and nail technique of making holes.

After a few hours of that I stopped. O.o Got my buddy Chris to drill the holes for me. That meant I had to go over to his house for 5th of May taco and margarita fest. Sooo... Chris and I where in the garage playing with power tools. :D Chris you are awesome let me just tell you that.

Then it was back to drinking margaritas and stuff. :D

Ok so next day was finishing construction. Woohoo.

So here is my finished project and my lovely assistant to show it off. (Seriously though, if those eyes could cut through things.. I would so have used the cat to make the cuts instead of the saw.)

What is this contraption you ask? Guess.

No idea? ok ok ok .

It's a yarn holder.. With as much crocheting and knitting as I am doing lately.. I needed something to hold the yarn.

I have made some modifications already since completing this project though. I shortened the base pieces by 4 inches on each length of pipe, making the over all base 20 some odd inches on the sides and maintained the 17 inch width. I don't want it to fall over easily.

I have decided that I am going to bring Chris another beer and get him to drill another set of holes for a 4th yarn holder. So I am going to also have to get another threader bar and length of clear tubing, no big deal there. I already have the left over wing nuts. :D

I also need to get about 8 feet of steel wire for another modification. Its hard to explain but when I finish it I will take pictures.

So far it has made things easier for me.
